THE last moments of a 22- year-old Olympic hopeful diver who was mowed down and killed by a hit and run driver will be retold to an inquest today.

Solent University criminology student Gavin Hustler- Brown was knocked down by a speeding Vauxhall Astra almost three years ago when he crossed Bevois Valley Road in Portswood after a night out.

The force of the impact was so strong that Gavin, who was studying away from his hometown of Bradford, was thrown through the air and suffered fatal head injuries.

As reported in the Daily Echo, his killer Lukasz Banasik, 26, drove away from the scene at speed jumping a red light.

He then dumped the vehicle in Alma Road and fled the country on a coach to his native Poland just days later.

He was sentenced to five years in jail earlier this month.

Gavin was a popular member of Britain’s diving community and moved to Southampton in 2005 where he trained with Southampton Diving Academy at The Quays. The inquest into Gavin’s death will take place at Southampton Coroner’s Court.
