FROM the age of two she was dancing, trying on costumes and surrounded by sequins.

theatre has always been a part of former Winchester schoolgirl Laura Goodwin's life - and now, aged 25, she is bringing her own show to the city's Theatre Royal.

"It's something I have grown up with. I have spent my whole life being surrounded by costumes, sequins and music," she said.

"It's second nature to me and it was a natural step to go on and do it for myself."

Laura's mother, Claire, was a dancer and now runs a theatre arts school in Kings Worthy, and Laura has followed in her footsteps.

After attending Winchester's Henry Beaufort School and Peter Symonds College, Laura went to London to study musical theatre.

She worked as a professional dancer for Opera Holland Park, and then two years ago set up her own company, Delirious Productions, alongside business partner David Ball.

The company is currently running a production of West End and Broadway, a musical extravaganza of West End hits featuring West End stars as well as Laura herself. The show will come to the Theatre Royal on Sunday.

"It's something I'm very proud of and it means a lot to bring it home to Winchester," Laura said. "I'm feeling good, but nervous, about it."

Claire added: "Laura started dancing with me when she was about two. As she grew up she was the organiser and used to do all the programmes and show plans. We're absolutely proud of her."
