Simon Humberstone turned the Hampshire Under-18 Colleges Cup final on its head as Peter Symonds' wiped out a ten-point first-half deficit to beat Portsmouth Grammar 20-10 at Hilsea on Wednesday.

Portsmouth Grammar looked set to repeat last season's cup triumph when Chris Austin and Jim Davis scored unconverted tries to give the holders a 10-0 advantage.

But Dan Neville's poor kicking - he missed both conversions and screwed a straightforward penalty wide - let Peter Symonds' off the hook.

Once Humberstone cut the deficit from a penalty, Peter Symonds' took command.

He levelled the scores by improving a James Piper try, put Peter Symonds' 13-10 ahead from an acute angled penalty and then completed a match-winning solo show by scoring a converted try under the PGS posts.
