STUDENTS in Winchester have produced a series of videos aimed at promoting better health among residents of the city.

Topics ranging from smoking and binge drinking to preventing falls in the home for the elderly, have been produced by Year 2media and film students from University College Winchester.

They will now be shown at a special premier next Wednesday November 24 at the West Downs Performing Arts and Conference Centre in Romsey Road.

Cultural studies boss at the university, Dr Oluyinka Esan, said: "The video production project is special as it helps to promote the health of the local population.

"Our students have been working really hard with excellent results."

Rob Carroll, head of health promotion at Mid-Hants primary Care Trust, added: "The university has made an innovative and unique contribution to the community in which their staff and students live, work and study.

"The videos will be used as part of broader programmes of action to raise awareness of critical health issues and improve the population's health.

"We are very grateful to the university for initiating this project and look forward to working with them on similar projects in the future."
