Romsey Choral Society's concert in Romsey Abbey this Saturday (November 13th) is dedicated to the memory of popular estate agent Karen Hobbs, who was killed in car crash in September
The concert, which features Mozart's Requiem, will also include the singing of Poulenc's Litanies la Vierge Noire. The French composer Francis Poulenc was inspired to write his
Litanies in 1936 during a holiday-pilgrimage to Rocamadour, in south western France, which he made following the death of a close friend, who was also killed in a road accident.
Karen's family, who hope to be present in person, are pleased that the choir and audience on Saturday will pay tribute to Karen's life in such a poignant way.
In addition to this piece and Mozart's Requiem, the concert will include Mozart's Ave Verum, Handel's setting of Psalm 127 - Nisi Dominus and Elgar's Serenade for Strings.
Performing with Romsey Choral Society will be the Chameleon Arts Orchestra and four outstanding soloists: Adey Grummet (soprano) Julia Batchelor (mezzo-soprano) Simon Irwin (tenor) and Stephen Foulkes (baritone).
