THE SUN shone, the wine flowed and the band played.
Carrying tables, chairs, cushions and picnic hampers, thousands of music lovers poured into Netley's Royal Victoria Country Park to sample the magical music of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
The weather was in perfect harmony for a night of fine music which included the sounds of Tchaikovsky, Strauss and Sibelius.
And this was accompanied by a spectacular firework and laser display which lit up the skies over the country park and Southampton Water.
The display featured the amazing fountains of Aquataine from Strasbourg. Beautifully coloured images were projected on to screens made entirely of water and fireworks.
Hampshire County Council's executive member for recreation and heritage Councillor John Waddington said: "The scenic Royal Victoria Country Park is the perfect venue for this type of event."
