IT was a dream come true for hundreds of Hampshire children as they enjoyed an all-expenses-paid trip to Paultons Park.

More than 1,000 youngsters with special needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds had fun on rides and amusements at the Ower fun park courtesy of the Rotary Club.

Youngsters enjoyed rides such as the Jumping Bean, the Wave Runner and the Raging River Ride Log Flume.

For the first time, staff at the park catered for the event, using 480 loaves of bread to make 2,500 sandwiches with tuna or egg fillings.

Teachers and carers were also invited to help look after the children but also to have some fun with them.

Steve Lowe, district co-ordinator for Rotary District 1110, said: "This year we are celebrating the 13th year of the Rotary KidsOut Day.

"It is a highlight in the Rotary calendar and it gets bigger and more fun-packed each year.

"It is so rewarding for all involved to see these children taking part in activities and enjoying themselves."
