EASTLEIGH'S Concorde Club, which has become an international jazz mecca, is set for a major makeover.

A wide range of improvements will be carried out over the coming months.

The include a new reception area and lobby, complete refurbishment of the club and improvements to the dance floor/stage lighting.

There will also be a new cloakroom and

toilet facilities and new air conditioning throughout.

The Moldy Fig Wine Bar will also be extended with an area for al-fresco dining. There are also plans to landscape the gardens.

Concorde Club owner Cole Mathieson says that they welcome views and comments from members about every aspect of the club, from the refurbishment plan to the entertainment programme.

The Concorde, which started life in the back room at Southampton's Bassett Hotel, has been at the forefront of the local entertainment scene for about six decades.

Founded by Mr Mathieson, it has been the stage for musicians who went on to become household names.

The star studded line-up has included Rod Stewart, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Georgie Fame, Alan Price and Acker Bilk.
