SHOPPERS at WestQuay got into a right old lather when former soap star Patsy Palmer wanted to teach them how to do their laundry.
The actress - famous for playing Bianca in the BBC's EastEnders - was in Southampton to promote soap powder and when the call went up for a willing helper the temperature began to rise.
No sooner had she asked whether there were any men who would like to take off their tops so she could show them how to wash it, than she had her first volunteer.
Mark Gammon, 32, from Bournemouth, whipped off his shirt in a trice for the demonstration. Patsy, who was called on to sign dozens of autographs despite being almost unrecognisable in a short blonde crop from her days as the flame-haired girlfriend of hen-pecked mechanic Ricky Butcher, said: "He did really well to help us out - it took a lot of bottle."
