SOUTHAMPTON-based passenger liner Queen Elizabeth 2 has passed a further inspection by the American health authorities with flying colours.
This second check by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) came after a previous examination discovered cockroaches in the galley, mould residue on ice makers and blocked air conditioning drains a week earlier.
The 70,327-ton flagship of the British merchant marine received a score of 92 in the follow-up inspection when the ship docked at Honolulu.
Ships are graded on a scale of one to 100 with grades below 86 classed unsatisfactory and earlier this month QE2 missed the pass mark by just one point by scoring 85 while berthed in Florida.
