Winchester prison's board of visitors is on the lookout for new members.
One of the watchdog body's most important responsibilities is to ensure that the inmates are treated humanely.
Chairman, Ione Ashford, says the board is "the eyes and ears of the Home Secretary and the public".
The volunteers carry out their responsibilities in their free time, amounting to about two or three days a month.
