CRACKLING bacon, sizzling sausages and bright yellow eggs were the tasty offerings served up at a farm shop in North Houghton as the Farmhouse Breakfast Campaign took off this week.
The Dairy Barn Farm Shop, specialising in home-grown produce including pork from a herd of Tamworth and British Saddleback pigs, was taking part in the latest effort to put locally grown produce on the plates of local residents.
A second local supplier, John Chalcraft of King's Somborne, supplied farm fresh eggs for an 80-guest breakfast cooked up at Wellow Golf Club on Wednesday.
Crisis-hit farmers want consumers, caterers and retailers to realise the importance of buying locally produced British food.
