A GROUP of nine volunteers who have spent a combined total of more than 55 years patrolling the streets of Andover and district as special constables have been recognised by the police authorities.
Andover police chief Supt Keith Cockburn presented certificates to the unpaid specials.
Divisional officer Ivor Chambers and Special Constable Martin Liney have each been in post for over a decade while the remaining seven have been in post for more than five years.
Supt Cockburn said: "We as a division are keen to value our staff and the presentation of these certificates is in appreciation of the dedication, hard work and effort that the specials give on a voluntary basis in support of their colleagues and the local community.
This is one way of recognising that service." Andover Division has 23 special constables.
