NOW that he has given up the job of secretary to Andover Chamber of Commerce, Jan Wilson is about to go on an interesting journey into retirement.
Chamber members discovered he had a passion for steam trains and promptly handed over a ticket for a steam train journey anywhere in the country, plus the arduous duty of helping to keep the engine boiler stoked up once the train was rattling along.
Nearly 70 members of the chamber attended Jan Wilson's farewell party in Andover Guildhall when president Trevor Osgood also presented the past secretary with vouchers for camera equipment - photography is another interest.
Mrs Ann Wilson, who has provided an important office back up for her husband during the many years he has been working for the chamber, received a bouquet of flowers.
