When it comes to style, Eastleigh Football Club are a cut above the rest.

And the players' thoughts of a Wembley appearance tomorrow in the Carlsberg Pub Cup final has really gone to their heads as they proved this week by "doing a David Beckham".

While Becks is reported to have paid £300 to lose his locks, the Eastleigh team raised that sum for Cancer Research as they lined up for a short back and shine from Hampshire's master shearer himself Trevor Mitchell, inset.

The award-winning hairdresser was at Ten Acres to set yet another world record as he successfully cut 15 Eastleigh players' heads of hair in a finger-twitching 29 minutes 56 seconds.

"David Beckham's style was a grade two and looking at the Eastleigh players I reckoned it would take around two minutes on average to complete each head. It's all a bit of fun but most importantly it has raised money for Cancer Research," said Mitchell.

The record makes it a hat-trick for Mitchell who has completed the world's fastest haircut in 1 minute 13 seconds and once trimmed 22 heads in an hour.

The hair-raising scheme was set up by Eastleigh boss Trevor Parker who once played for Lowford Victoria under Mitchell after Pub Cup sponsors Carlsberg had offered to stump up money for the club's chosen charity.

As Gary Mead quickly became Mitchell's first shaven victim, chairman Roger Sherwood quipped: "This is better than watching them play!"
