The Daily Echo is always happy to print letters from Saints fans whether they are for or against Rupert Lowe.

In the newspaper, we have printed only some of the many emails and letters we have received this week against the chairman and just one in support. Below we print some of those letters - to read all six pages see tonight's Daily Echo.

Come on fans, show some intelligence!

I urge Saints fans to show some intelligence as well as passion for the club.

The protest directed at Rupert Lowe was understandable on Saturday.

However, do those fans really believe that displaying banners and persistently bad mouthing Lowe whilst the players are looking to be lifted by the crowd is going to do anything but make things worse!

Those fans were effectively supporting Ipswich in the second half, not Southampton.

George Burley must wonder what he's taken on and if anything will persuade our better players to seek a move that will probably do it.

Mr Lowe has got a lot wrong in recent years, but George Burley is not one of those errors, nor is the selling of Theo Wallcott which was forced onto the club.

Indeed, this season I believe the Chairman has done very little wrong and let's not forget that if our 'intelligent' millitant minority hadn't effectively prevented the re-appointment of Glenn Hoddle then we probably wouldn't be in the current situation.

So, I say to the fans, show you're discontent at the appropriate time if you must - but that must not be when the players are on the pitch, or you should be ready to take the blame if things get worse.

Do not repeat this pointless action against Crystal Palace; get behind the team!

Mark Harding, Ashurst, Southampton

How can Lowe be surprised?

How on earth can Rupert Lowe appear surprised that Theo Walcott was advised to leave?

There is no team spirit, morale is at an all-time low, with no club leader, not even a proven penalty taker.

I cannot help thinking how different things were 20 or 30 years ago, when players never wanted to leave - even when the club were relegated.

Even the big names were once happy to play for us.

Now the new stadium is a showpeice, but the football is definitely not.

Good pies

Bridge, Richards, Davies and Hall cost a combined fee of £1m but generated £23m.

This paid for Delap, Phillips, Niemi, Beattie, Ormerod, Quashie, McCann, Crouch, Nilsson, Svensson and half the academy.

Oh, and Fuller.

Full houses, pies, pints and programmes, replica kits etc and the millions from Sky every year, and Lowe says money is still tight.

Still, let's look on the positive side: at least we have excellent catering and a radio station.
