Locks Heath stole a march on their Hampshire League rivals by winning one of the two Division 1 matches at Redlynch & Hale which survived a wet opening day, writes MIKE VIMPANY.

Two-thirds of the county programme was washed out, but Locks Heath snared a handy 21-point return after winning by five wickets at Redlynch.

Struggling at 47-5 after a fine spell by Lyndon Strong (4-6), Redlynch were all out for 123, with Chris Boyd (3-15) and Scott Mills (2-11) finishing the innings off.

Tim Stokes (45) pointed Heath to the finish line.

Teenager Tom Pearce hit a maiden HL century, scoring 110 as South Wilts rattled up 274-3 (Robert Pittman 55) before restricting Lymington to 214-7 (Guy Hayward 60).

Alan Charles hit an unbeaten 121 as Eastleigh & Otterbourne racked up 298-3 against Shrewton II.
