FOLLOWING the latest planning meeting, it seems that the planners are trying their hardest to stop Worcester City Football Club going forward.

Maybe it would be better if B&Q offered to build a school on a green field in the centre of a suburb which has only in the past few years had a bypass built to keep the traffic out.

You only have to take a look at Dorchester Town's new stadium. Their planning committee allowed them to build a supermarket alongside their new stadium on an out-of-town site alongside the by-pass and it has been deemed a great success by planners and neighbours alike.

Why is it that the rugby club, with all their money, were allowed to expand their stadium, but have not done a lot to prevent the traffic chaos that happens at every home game?

The people of Spetchley are perfectly happy to allow a rugby club park-and-ride in their backyard, also the building of a new big pub. But when it comes to a football club that is farther away from them, complete with its own car parking, they object!

I am sure that with all the technology available, B&Q will be able to solve the lighting problems.

Come on, Worcester planners, let's get behind WCFC and help to put them in the 21st century on a par with our neighbours in Cheltenham and Kidderminster.

WCFC need this more to keep them alive and, with no benefactor coming forward, this is our only option. Let's make it a football stadium of which we can be proud befitting a city of 100,000 people.

TIM DORE, Worcester.
