Expanding national tool supplier could create eight jobs at new base in Bradford

Toolstation, which has more than 40 outlets around the UK, is in a hurry to find a suitable base in Bradford which could create up to eight new jobs.

The Bristol-based company is in the middle of an expansion drive and already has an outlet in Leeds. It is now searching for premises of between 4,000 sq ft and 8,000 sq ft to turn into a major new trade counter in Bradford.

The city has been highlighted as a key area for Toolstation’s expansion programme. Its growth plan follows years of steady success supplying a wide range of power and hand tools and light building items to both trade and public customers.

Toolstation, which offers more than 10,000 products for building and related trades, has launched a major programme to open up additional trade counters across the UK and is actively searching for the best locations.

Philip MacLauchlan, who is responsible for the expansion drive, said Bradford has been identified as a key location.

He said: “Our requirements in Bradford are quite specific. We require premises of between 4,000 sq ft and 8,000 sq ft with car parking and loading facilities. New or modern warehouses or trade counters would be ideal and we are happy to consider existing or part-complete buildings or developments.

“We are really keen to open in Bradford as soon as possible, so we are working fast. We are realistic about the rents we will have to pay, and our confidence in this market enables us to consider good-length leases, including ten-year leases where appropriate incentives are provided.”

A minimum of four jobs will be created at the new outlet, possibly rising to eight depending on the size of the new location. A company spokesman said future expansion could generate further jobs locally. .
