TESTS carried out on a body found on the Scottish coast have confirmed it to be a 50-year-old man missing from his North-East home for several months.
John Nelson has been missing from his home in Highfield Rise, in Chester-le-Street, since December 28.
Last month, a body was found beneath a 150ft cliff at St Abbs Lighthouse, at Eyemouth, near Berwick.
A spokesman for Durham Police said yesterday that DNA testing had now confirmed that the body was that of Mr Nelson and his body was being brought back to the North-East for a funeral.
