THE newly formed About Music Project (AMP) is holding a launch party at the Three Tuns in Bishop’s Castle on Sunday.

Three local bands will be performing – The Nuclear Weasels, Thin Vision and Crackabis – from 6pm to 9pm and there is also an invitation to young, enthusiastic musicians and singers to attend and perform at open mic sessions throughout the evening.

AMP is aimed at young people in Bishop’s Castle and the surrounding area keen to learn about rock music, including performance, rehearsal, stage presentation, writing, skills development, equipment management and studio work.

The project also brings together adult volunteers whose local music expertise, skills and experience are passed on in an informal and supportive way.

“Although we formed last autumn, a small committee has been gradually planning and working towards this launch party and other music events are planned for the future,” said committee member Ian Franklin. “We hope that young people interested in the project will attend the launch and offer support to the organisation.”

Admission to the launch party is £3 on the door or tickets are available through Simpsons and The Happy Bap.

There will also be a fund-raising raffle and a bar is available, with soft drinks for under-18s.
