ENTERPRISING Crewe students had their fingers on the pulse when they attended a special first aid course last week.
Entry Level students at South Cheshire College benefited from the two hour session by learning all the tricks of first aid that they could apply in emergency situations.
Some of the issues and situations they tackled included how to treat bleeding, burns and scalds and collapsed casualties.
Students also delved into the contents of a first aid box and had the opportunity to practice first aid techniques on each other using slings and dressings.
They also used ResuciAnne, a mannequin used to practice CPR, and learnt how to put someone in the recovery position.
Entry Level tutor Fran Jones said: “The session was a very useful way for students to learn all about first aid and the techniques that are involved.
“We are grateful to John for running the session and hopefully, students can put some of the skills they have learnt into practice in real-life emergency situations.”
Entry Level programmes are for students with learning difficulties or disabilities and give them the opportunity to learn life skills through fun activities.
