IT was a mountain of rubbish that had left him McFurious.
The growing mound of burger wrappers along Dave Elgram’s street had not been cleared for so long that he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Armed with a litter-picker the dad of three collected a bin liner full of McDonalds rubbish and tipped it on over the restaurant floor in front of shocked staff.
Now the 44-year-old is vowing to return to the store in Burgess Road every Monday with a fresh bag of rubbish until staff clean up his street.
Dave, 44, a self-employed window cleaner, of Burgess Road, said: “The rubbish situation here is absolutely awful.
“McDonalds are liable to keep it clean and tidy and unfortunately I took real umbrage to see staff clear one side of the street and not the other.
“They said he forgot to do our side and had no obligation to keep the area clean. But I have lived here all my life and I’m sure it was part of their planning permission to do so when they opened.
“They had a shop full of people and I emptied the rubbish all over their floor. I wasn’t going to dump it until the staff became flippant. They said their manager was on a break and they wouldn’t go and get her. I told him exactly what I thought of their rubbish and that the local residents were fed up.”
A spokesman for McDonalds said: “We share this customer’s frustration with the thoughtless minority who drop litter. It’s not acceptable and we do make every effort to clean up, going out three times a day, every day to collect litter from the area surrounding our restaurant.
“Although we do understand the frustration caused by litter, we hope that in the future we can discuss this in a positive and constructive way, working together with the local community to stamp out the problem.”

Good on him! There is no excuse for people to drop litter as it is, but there is no reason also for them to help ease the problem seeing as they are the ones selling the food and have a responsibility to clean the inside of the premises, so why not the outside.

will point out a case that happened last year of car passing though millbrook housing estate redbridge when a mcdonalds takes left overs and rubbish was thrown out of a car window while they was on there way home to chilworth, it got caught on a unmark police car camera. maybe local cameras are needed near by to catch those who dropping there litter start fining them and keep on fining them till they get the message.

McDonalds only sell food. They are not responsible for what happens to the packaging after it's left their premises. I hope they sue this guy. It's time for people to learn how to dispose of litter instead of expecting the council or companies to do it for them.

Doesn't necessarily have to be the store where you bought it, the most convenient will do, over time this can add up to a reasonable amount that makes it worthwhile. The best part of your post is that you suggest a deposit of cost that would make one think twice before discarding the item. Don't know if that would affect M.P.s as they may claim it on their allowances. :)

Likewise- with this Mc Staff member who gets shot down in flames (sorry Burger King staff) who merely made some relevant points and from the inside. Why do so many people look down on anyone who works at these places? They are human beings and you would be surprised at the intelligence and capabilities of many staff members- they just need some income in these tough times. Often temporary as they go onto better things. Try and talk to them if possible- although they are mostly far too busy with the manic turnover during busy periods.
The main problem with any fast food outlet is all down to the chav slobs who chuck their garbage wherever they like. You can see these often porcine numpties waddling right past a bin after stuffing mega-size meals into their ugly gobs and throwing the rubbish on the floor.
Many of us feel like making a point but what's the use? You'll get a mouthful of abuse, maybe knifed or the nutters might rush to their Astras and bring out the baseball bats should anybody dare to criticise their anti-social oafish way of life.
The nearby roads are full of the same rubbish chucked out of car windows along with beer cans, ciggies etc.
Why blame the fast food outlets? They can only clean so much rubbish and most customers tend to behave as they deposit their wrappers etc.
Maybe this Womble like agitator is an 'attention seeker' but he has made a point.
However - would he dare to tip an unemptied wheelie bin all over the Civic Centre steps if it wasnt collected for the most spurious of reasons? You know - the 'wrong kind of rubbish' (lol) or the lid being open by a few centimetres. Maybe a few inches away from a designated spot.
Pity the poor McD staff who had to clear this mess off the floor following the protest.

thats because people like me will tell people what is really happening out there, the truth of the real matters, things like who really control's things like religion (right wing aka capitalist). who makes all the economy messes, the same type of people. who puts out false propaganda just so they can control the majority of people, they are dead scared of people like me and people who think some thing like me. because when people like me do get to political power (i am not saying my self but others like my way of thinking). we will show every one what is going on out there in the real world, and show that there is a much better way in doing things, that is better for every one and the world has a whole, right wing aka capitalists need to control every thing, the moment they lose that control and the ordinary people people take over, they have lost and people will see for what they really are, so they use every tactic that can just to keep control and when you get down to the nitty gritty things like, all wars are started by right wing your capitalists or people that think in the same way.
so what they can they do about people like me, they cant attack my type of politics so they attack the person. and me being an atheist makes it worse for them, because atheist dont have any religion to be control by.
its no accident that most atheists are socialist aka left wing

Your passion for politics and your sense of compassion for the ordinary man/woman in the street is evident. And in a sense, you as a person and your politics are fused together.
answer :- thats how politics evolve, the fusing of ideas, when it becomes stuck like right wing politics is, it become stagnant and slowly dies, like you are watching before your eyes. it may take years or it may be over quickly. but right wing politics is on its way out.
You problem is one of lack of credibility. Both as a person and in the narrow political perspective you promote.
answer:- to you and may one or two more, why dont you ask posters what they think of my credibility, its a lot better picture than you try to paint. one thing i have often see been said about me i come up with some very good points of view and ideas, i not seen any from you has to date.
1
You mangle the English language on a website where reasonable application of the English language is a basic necessity in being able to communicate.
A/ mangle english dont matter of a forms its the message that counts, and if your not sure what be said then ask what do you mean, instead of insulting people like your well know for. king john could not every read or write yet he laid down the foundations of english law. richard branson is dyslexic and look where he got today.
2
You profess to know everything about everything. Clearly, an impossibility.
A/ you claim that i know every thing not me, i just know my limits, and my limits are what i have learned in the world, what school taught me, and what job i took in life. it has taken me all over the world, i have step foot on every single continent in the world including antartica. its brought me in close contact with all sorts of thing, and met people from all walks of lifes, you might of lead a very shallow life and your limitation is only narrow ban. mainly because of your job in live just dont take you place in the world.
3 You blame policies in place 30 years ago for today's ills.
A/ to know where your are going, you need to know where you been. so you dont repeat the same mistakes and policies from 18 to 30 years was where today problems lay, 30 years ago policies was taken bad to the 1920s to 1930s, and the 80's and early 90's was just a repeat of the same mistakes, and those mistakes are going to get bigger and longer till some one undo all that damage that was done in the 80'and 90's
4
You blame the religious right for wanting to exercise social control as a defence mechanism against your political stance.
A/ mono god religion do not practice what it preaches, but the worse of it, it is controlled by the capitialist aka your right wing. and is just another form of mass population control. they dont want to see socialism in place because it open people eyes to what it really is a way of controlling people.
5
Whenever challenged about wooly claims you refuse to back up your claims with hard facts. Instead, you rubbish the challenger and delve even deeper into fairytales which simply destroy your arguments and make you look silly.
no i give answer its just people like you will never accept it, and i never rubbish a challenger till they result in name calling and slagging off, because they dont have any answers, that to has been noted by many posters on here. that i take a lot of abuse from people when they are stuck and have no answers. such has your self in the pass

Carry on strolling around Dingley Dell.
