A CORONER has criticised a controversial psychiatric hospital after a patient plunged to her death from a multi-storey car park six days after being released.
Elisabeth Robins, who was depressed, had even spoken with doctors about jumping from a high building in the weeks before she died – but the information was never shared with her family because of “patient confidentiality”.
The 63-year-old, who had twice before tried to commit suicide, was eventually admitted to the unit for treatment but less than a week after being allowed home she jumped from an NCP car park.
Coroner Keith Wiseman said medics should have shared information with Mrs Robins’ family about her release as communication in such cases was “absolutely crucial”.
