FIRE crews were called out to deal with a burning England flag tied to a vehicle in Southampton this morning.
Flames spread from the large flag and seriously damaged the Suzuki Jeep Vitari it was attached to.
Crews from Hightown fire station were despatched to the vehicle in Cheddar Close, in Woolston at around 4.20am.
A spokesman for the fire station said, “We were at the scene for around 20 minutes. There wasn’t much of the flag left and the vehicle was badly damaged.”
He added that fire crews advise football fans not to burn any flags, especially those attached to vehicles.
