A FAMILY fun day will be taking place this weekend in memory of a Southampton pub landlord who lost his battle against motor neurone disease.

The fundraising event plans to celebrate the life of Trevor Nesbitt, who ran The Grapes pub in Southampton, and is hoping to raise cash for the local branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Trevor, 50, died in April from the degenerative disease after being diagnosed with it in September last year.

He ran the Oxford Street watering hole famous for its links with the Titanic for eight years before he was forced to close due to the recession early last year.

Trevor’s ex-wife and business partner Jacqui Nesbitt said: “So many people knew Trevor that we all want to do something worthwhile. Not only in his memory but also to raise awareness for this disease.”

The fun day at The Testwood pub in Salisbury Road, Totton, from 1pm on Saturday will include games and activities before an evening disco.
