Murder inquiry launched over mystery body

AN investigation into the discovery of a man’s body in woodland at the Coxford area of Southampton is now a murder inquiry.

Police in Southampton say there have been “significant developments” in the case after the body was discovered in a stream by a dog walker nearly seven days ago.

Officers contacted police across the country and abroad in a bid to put a name to the man, who was 6ft 5in with reddish-brown hair.

They released a photograph of the man’s distinctive Asics Gel trainers in the hope that someone would recognise them.

The man was found lying in a stream in woodland off Springford Road in the Coxford area of the city and it is thought he had been there for three or four days.

Because of the decomposed state of the body a post-mortem was unable to determine how he died and pathologists were also unable to say how old the man was, putting his age anywhere between 24 and 50.

And do the police force wish to tell people living in the area what these “significant developments” are......Surley everyone needs to know if a murderer is on the run

Would you like to take over the investigation and let us know? It takes more then a couple of hours to work out what has happened you know.

As the first paragraph states that it is now a murder enquiry, it would appear that there is no 'if'!

They are not going to report the 'significant developments' as that would not just warn the localsm but also the murderer.

I'd suggest running a finger-print check against those found on the man's tent.
