Keep paddling dad, I’m right behind you!

A father and son are taking part in a 60-mile charity kayak challenge from Southampton to Brighton.

The lengthy paddle will aim to raise £1,000 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, in Farnham, where close friend Holly Webber is currently fighting cancer.

Local actor Gilbert Taylor, 21, and his dad Michael Taylor, 51, a telecoms field engineer, set off from the Woolston side of the Itchen Bridge yesterday.

A westward route will see them drift down Southampton Water, past Portsmouth Harbour and along the south coast to Brighton pier.

Gilbert and Michael hope to get to Brighton pier by 2pm today, where a small gathering of friends are set to cheer them in as they tackle the final stages.
