A Southampton grandmother will be taking to the stage in another beauty pageant this weekend to crown this year’s Mrs Commonwealth UK.
Christyne Remnant, 65, from Chilworth will take to the stage of the final competition looking for ambassadors to represent the UK at Mrs Commonwealth International heat in London later this year.
Christyne, who has three children and two grandchildren, said she entered the contest for women aged 39 to 65 for a bit of fun.
“I won a competition at West Quay a few years ago and thought this looked fun too.
“People do tend to think you are past everything when you reach a certain age. But age is just a number.
“I am part of the new young old generation and there are a lot of us out there.”
“I have no expectations but am looking forward to taking part,” she added.
The contest taking place in Milton Keynes will also see a Miss Commonwealth UK and Miss Teen Commonwealth UK.
It’s designed to help support charity and community projects and events across the Commonwealth nations.
