Southampton is home to the most respectful drivers in the UK, a new report revealed today.

The poll, carried out by AXA Insurance, showed that 85 per cent of drivers waited for pedestrians at zebra crossings in the morning, increasing to 87 per cent in the evening.

No drivers felt the need to run a red light on the way to work, and 50 per cent indicate on roundabouts in the afternoon.

Sotonians have a positive attitude towards priority parking spaces, with no drivers taking advantage of disabled parking bays, unlike nearby drivers in Portsmouth, where 38 per cent did.

The city with the least respectful drivers was Swansea.
