A MAN who needs crutches to walk was attacked and robbed by two men in Southampton.

The 61-year-old victim suffers from a hip problem which means he needs to use crutches to get around.

He was on his way home from the Kings House Oriental Cuisine in St Mary's Road, opposite the fire station at around 3am this morning.

As e made his way along the road, he was approached by two men who asked him if he had any cash or cigarettes.

After he told them that he didn't, they accused him of lying and threw him up against a shop window.

He victim fell to the ground before the men frisked him, and ripped away his coat and made off with it towards the subway. It contained some cash, a mobile phone, keys, a lighter and some cigarettes.

The first robber is described as Asian, aged around 20, 5ft 4 and of slight build. He was wearing a light royal blue hoody, dark bottoms and bright white trainers.

The second man is also described as Asian, aged around 20, 5ft 10 and with a slight build. He wore a plain grey hoody and also had bright white trainers.

Officers are asking for anyone who thinks they may have seen the incident or the men involved to contact them as they may have important information which could help catch the robbers.
