Giant warehouse store gets go ahead
A GIANT cash and carry warehouse could open in Southampton as early as next summer after the scheme was approved by planners.
Up to 132 full-time and 117 part-time jobs will be created when low-cost wholesaler Costco opens its multi-million pound store on part of the former BAT site at Millbrook.
Spanning 13,000 sq m and offering 4,000 different items, the giant store will help confirm the city’s status as the south’s retail hub.
Southampton City Council’s planning panel voted in favour of the scheme, which could be ready by summer 2012.
