An adder in the New Forest
A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl is in hospital after being bitten by an adder.
The snake struck Tyler Butcher in the New Forest.
She yelped as it sunk its fangs into her foot while her shocked family saw it slither away.
Her father Kenny Butcher said she was in agony and they rang 999.
She was in intensive care last night after her leg turned black and became badly bruised.
She was given the anti-venom this morning and is now recovering in Southampton General Hospital.
A hospital spokesman told the Daily Echo: "She is recovering and getting more comfortable."
Adder bites are very rare in the UK.
