TAKEAWAY bosses have been fined almost £2,500 for a kitchen that was “filthy and in a state of disrepair”.

Inspectors uncovered the conditions at the Curry Garden Take-Away in Gosport during a routine visit.

Bosses Abdul Wadud and Mustafa Rahman pleaded guilty to four charges each.

The spot check revealed mould in the fridge and on the ceiling, dirty walls and floors, fridge handles ingrained with food debris, rusty shelves and grease around the light fitting.

The pair admitted failing to keep the premises at Gregson Avenue, Gosport, clean, maintain equipment or have necessary procedures in place.

The two men appeared before Fareham Magistrates Court as part of a prosecution brought by Gosport Borough Council’s environmental department.

Mr Wadud was fined £100 for each of the four offences and ordered to pay £712 costs. With the £15 victim surcharge this amounted to a total of £1,127.

Mr Rahman was fined £150 for each of the four offences and ordered to pay £712 costs. With the £15 victim surcharge this amounted to a total of £1,327.
