Robber threatens staff with gun

A MAN robbed a Southampton convenience store after telling a member of staff he had a gun.

The robbery happened at the One Stop store in Portswood Road, Portswood, last night.

The offender entered the store around 7.50pm, approached the counter and threatened a male member of staff, telling him he had a gun and demanded money.

He ran off with a quantity of cash, turning right out of the store in the direction of B and Q, leaving the staff member unhurt but shaken.

The suspect is described as white, of medium build, 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, with pimply skin.

He was wearing a peaked woollen cap under a pulled up hood, a woollen scarf over his face, a light coloured camouflage pattern jacket and light coloured trousers with black shoes and black gloves.

Detective Inspector Dave Morgan said: “We are not certain at this time whether this man was in possession of a gun, but clearly he needs to be found as quickly as possible.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Southampton CID on 101 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Misleading headline once again. He said he had a gun, it was not seen!

SotonLad, if I said I was going to punch your face in, I am threatening you with my fists. I don't have to show you them

hmw, you are missing the point. Unless you have been the victim of some horrific accident, everyone is well aware that you have hands connected to the ends of your arms, and hence fists. What is impossible to tell though, is if someone claims they have a gun yet doesn't show it, no-one is really sure that there is a gun at all. SotonLad is correct; misleading headline. Again.
