A SECURITY guard was jailed for 18 months after breaking a man’s cheekbone in a Southampton nightclub.
The city crown court heard how there had been an incident between Daniel Curtis and David Middleton on the dance floor of the Oceana club.
Curtis left but then stood by a pillar and as Mr Middleton passed, he stepped out and punched him to the side of the face.
As a result of the blow, the victim had spent six days in hospital and he was still suffering from ongoing eye problems more than a year later.
Curtis, 26, of Neva Road, Bitterne Park, admitted causing grievous bodily harm.
In mitigation, Wayne Cleaver said the dance floor incident had not been one sided. No weapon was used and he delivered one punch, not intending to cause injury.
