“YOU couldn't meet a more honest man than Harry.”
Those were the words of a Leukaemia Busters boss Dr David Flavell, who was so sure of Mr Redknapp’s innocence he staked the charity’s reputation on it.
During the trial the court heard from Dr Flavell and wife Bee, also a doctor, who wrote of their high regard of Mr Redknapp, who with his wife Sandra has been a fundraising president for Southampton charity Leukaemia Busters since 2004.
Dr Flavell said: “I spoke to him before the trial got under way and said we wanted to write some sort of testimony about how much he has done for the charity.”
He added that he was in touch with Mr Redknapp yesterday wishing him all the best for the verdict and then again to congratulate him on the verdict.
Dr Flavell said he never doubted Mr Redknapp who, he said, was generous with his time and money.
“We know the man and his character, and found it difficult to believe he would ever do anything like this. He is a big-hearted generous guy who has done so much for the charity.”
