Labour leader Ed Miliband was due to visit Southampton today to campaign for more jobs and growth in the south.
Mr Miliband will visit Woolston-based hovercraft maker Griffon Hoverwork which has been championed by city MP John Denham and others as a manufacturing export success story.
Mr Miliband will press for greater action to support industry and get the economy moving.
Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls visited Southampton in November to promote Labour’s “five-point plan for jobs and growth”, which includes cutting VAT to 17.5 per cent, bringing forward long-term investments and offering a one-year national insurance holiday for small firms that take on extra workers.
