Serious crash shuts M3 motorway

A MAJOR Hampshire motorway was closed after a young driver was seriously injured in a crash.
An outer lane of the northbound M3 has now been reopened following the single car accident between junction 9 near Winchester and junction 8, at about 11.30am - although the inner lane remains closed while the damaged Renault is cleared and an investigation carried out.
The badly injured driver, a woman in her early 20s, was airlifted to hospital.
Major tails backs have been caused and a 16 mile diversion has been established via the A34 to Bullington Cross and the A303 to the M3 at junction 8.
