POLICE have arrested three more people in connection with the shooting in Townhill Park on Sunday evening.
An 18-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
In addition, an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both from Southampton, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Earlier this afternoon, officers involved in the investigation cordoned off Malmesbury Road, in Shirley, as they prepared to search a property along the street.
Four people have already been arrested following the incident on Sunday evening, when a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg and driven to Tesco Express on Cobden Avenue where he was taken ill and an ambulance was called.
He is recovering in hospital after surgery on non life-threatening injuries.
A team of around 40 officers is working on the investigation, codenamed Operation Saddlewood.
An area around several blocks of flats between Witts Hill, Vanguard Road and Lytham Road is still cordoned off as police hunt for potential forensic clues to the shooting.
Police have again thanked residents living in the affected area for their patience and co-operation, and have vowed to lift the cordon “at the earliest opportunity”.
They have also repeated their appeal for any potential witnesses to the shooting to come forward.
Anyone with information should call Hampshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
