THE 97th Bishop of Winchester will take his seat during a service of enthronement at Winchester Cathedral on 21 April after which he will immediately begin work in the diocese.
During the service next Saturday the chancellor of the diocese will read the archbishop’s mandate to Bishop Tim Dakin, pictured, before the Archdeacon of Canterbury (serving as The Archbishop of Canterbury’s representative) takes the new bishop by the hand and conducts him on to his throne, or ‘Cathedra’, from which the cathedral takes its name.
