Emergency services to to part in refinery exercise

Fawley refinery Fawley refinery

POLICE and firefighters are preparing to take part in a major exercise at Fawley refinery.

Drivers using the A326 have been warned that a large number of emergency vehicles will be converging on the huge-petro chemical plant on Saturday, May 5.

About 20 fire crews from Hampshire and neighbouring counties will spend the day reacting to a number of hypothetical emergencies.

A police spokesman said: “We regularly test our responses to major incidents so that in the unlikely event they do occur we have a plan in place.

“Members of the public should not be alarmed by the presence of emergency vehicles on the A326 and around Fawley on May 5.”
