THEY are proudly flying the flag for Southampton in the live semi-finals of one of the country’s toughest competitions.
But if they are going to make it to the Britain’s Got Talent final and the chance to perform for the Queen, Kai Widdrington and Natalia Jeved need your votes tonight.
The campaign to get the teenagers from Bassett into Saturday’s final got underway at West Quay yesterday and they are appealing to Daily Echo readers to pick up their phones and vote.
Tonight Kai, 16 and 15-year-old Natalia will compete in the first of five semi-finals, promising to wow everyone with something that is unique and modern for Latin and ballroom dance.
The pair, who started dancing together two years ago, training at A and L Dance Studios in Hedge End, have been rehearsing non-stop since they made it through to the next round.
They will be competing against four other acts for two places in the final – the act with the most phone votes going straight through but the judges will have to choose between the second and third most popular acts.
Kai, a former pupil of Toynbee School in Chandler’s Ford and son of ex-Saints player Tommy Widdrington, said: “This will be our opportunity to set a trend for Latin and ballroom dance.
“We just want to show people what we can do, that dance is really cool and put Southampton on the map, showing that Southampton as well as Britain has got talent. So please vote for us.”
Their family and friends are already hot on the campaign trail, drumming up support throughout Hampshire with their Kai and Natalia T-shirts.
Kai’s mum Candice said: “I am so proud of their achievement. It is huge for them. They thoroughly deserve it.”
In an appeal to Daily Echo readers, she added: “Please vote for these two fantastic teenagers that are hard working and dedicated to dance. They really deserve your vote and they will be flying the flag for Southampton.”
