RENOWNED Irish music ensemble Lúnasa bring their energetic, atmospheric blend of contemporary and traditional compositions to Turner Sims on Thursday, as part of their most extensive UK tour to date. With seven albums to their credit Lúnasa has a wealth of material to draw on to create a memorable evening.

n The Dutch Swing College Band, which turned professional in 1960, is the world’s longest established active jazz band.

It has toured the globe and on one of its rare visits to the UK it will be headlining the international jazz night at The Concorde Club on Wednesday.

n THE Pauper’s Path to Hope, performed at Mountbatten School’s Lantern Theatre tomorrow, weaves songs and stories from the Victorian era which give an insight into the resilience of people forced by circumstance into workhouses, contrasting the harsh realities of life for the poor with their dreams of escape.
