Emily continues battle against cancer

A HAMPSHIRE daughter who has already raised thousands of pounds in honour of her mum is at it again in the hope others suffering from pancreatic cancer can win their battle.

Emily Dolan watched for years as her mum, Karen, worked tirelessly helping others, and now it is her turn to give something back and make her mum proud.

The teacher from Bitterne Park last year raised more than £6,000 through a charity ball, and now she hopes to top that total with a second gala evening on May 18, at the Concorde Club, in Eastleigh, with powerboat champion host Shelley Jory-Leigh.

The money will be donated to PLANETS, a charity set up by doctors at Southampton General Hospital, dedicated to finding a cure for pancreas, liver and neuro endocrine tumours.

Her mum, who worked as a charity officer at Sainsbury’s, Hedge End, was just 53 when she tragically lost her battle with cancer, four years after she was diagnosed.

Emily said: “I think of my mum all the time and I know she would be proudly watching over me raising much-needed funds.

“Sadly, it was too late for my lovely mum, but I hope that what I am doing will help towards the research, hard work and passion from the wonderful doctors, researchers and consultants trying to eradicate this terrible disease.”

Tickets cost £45 and include a three-course meal and live entertainment. For your tickets to the event, call Emily on 07891 485439.
