A princess will meet a queen during a charity event being held in the port of Southampton today.
The Princess Royal, as patron of Sea Vision UK, is due to embark on the Cunard ship, Queen Elizabeth, to attend the launch of a new maritime education scheme.
Sea Vision, established in 2003, is a campaigning body aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the sea, and maritime activities, together with promoting the industry to young people aged between 13 and 22.
The Princess Royal has giving her backing to the maritime sector which employs more than 410,000 people directly, and as many again indirectly, while contributing in excess of £56 billion each year to the UK economy.
The charity works to bring together both individuals and commercial maritime interests to support the development of education schemes and to underline the range of careers available to young people at sea.
