POLICE in Scarborough have launched a new initiative designed to combat bike thieves operating in the town.
Operation Bikestamp will make it easier for cycle-owners to have their property security marked by making an appointment with local North Yorkshire Police officers, rather than waiting for specific marking events.
The scheme has been introduced after a rise in cycle thefts in Scarborough and appointments can be booked by phoning the force on 101 and leaving a message for the Scarborough Bikestamp team, or by e-mailing bikestamp.scarborough@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
