A spectacular fly past by the Red Arrows in Southampton has been cancelled due to dismal weather conditions.
The iconic aircraft were due to roar across the skies over Southampton's Mayflower Park at 6.20pm for the first time ever today bringing to a climax a showcase day of Jubilee celebrations in the city.
But with rain still lashing down and grey skies overhead, organisers have announced with just an hour to go they will not fly.
Earlier this afternoon they said a decision would be made at around 4.30pm but they had been holding out hope this afternoon hoping for a turn in the conditions.
The Red Arrows were scheduled to power in to view and perform one of their famous displays above Cunard's Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria which are all docked in the city.
The spectacular sight would have been a city first and was due to be celebrated with a jaw-dropping display of fireworks and special effects shortly after.
