De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton evacuated

The De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel The De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel

A TOP Southampton hotel had to be evacuated this morning after a pot was left on a gas hob, causing smoke to fill some of the rooms.

Firefighters from St Mary's, Redbridge and Hightown fire stations were called to the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel just before 2.45am after getting reports of a fire.

When the crews arrived at the hotel in West Quay Road, the fire was already out but thick smoke forced firefighters to evacuate staff and guests as they ventilated the hotel.

After an hour they were able to return to their rooms.
