Taking their time, aren't they? I mean they already know the decision so why not announce it up front?

Fingers crossed that Soton survives.

...what worries me is Bristol is convenient for the West country, London is convenient for London and Southampton, well, Southampton is on the border between the two catchment areas.

London certainly won't lose their unit as everything is biased towards the capital. If Bristol is closed then where will people from Devon and Cornwall go?

I really, really hope Soton stays open but suspect it'll close. :(

Option B....Southampton to remain..? I hope so.

Each of the 4 options allows for 2 children's heart centres in London. Why? London is expensive to get to by train, impossible to park in if going by car and ideal only for people who live in and around London. Surely it would be fairer to have one each in London, Bristol and Southampton.

Because there are more people in London. The principle is that every centre should be performing a minimum number of ops each year per surgeon, as the evidence is that this makes them safer and more children survive. London has a large enough population to make two centres sustainable.
